Experience confident, faith-informed, empowered birth.

You are HIS precious daughter.

Evidence shows that having continuous doula support improves health outcomes for both Mama and Baby.

  • What is a Doula?

Doula support decreases pregnancy and childbirth-related risks by providing you with physical comfort and emotional support, along with information and advocacy. A doula is a trained professional who supports you during your pregnancy and childbirth. A doula serves YOU, honoring your autonomy and your rights, providing physical comfort, and mindful of God’s presence in your birth story.

  • Why Susie?

Many of us desire God’s presence during childbearing. I’ve personally given birth 9 times. I know what it’s like to be both comforted and encouraged AND bullied and ignored during labor and delivery. As a certified doula I have proven methods and techniques to aid, comfort, strengthen, and encourage you while inviting the presence and power of God to be central in your story.

How having a doula statistically improves outcomes…

Did you know that right here in the United States, 45%-70% of childbearing women have experienced birth trauma during labor and delivery. Nearly 1/3 of all laboring women end up having a cesarean. The reasons for these abysmal statistics are complex, but one proven way to improve birth outcomes is to have continuous doula support. Doulas provide C.A.R.E. - the four essential foundations you need in order to labor and deliver safely and effectively.

  • Compassionate emotional support is a foundation of maternity care. Labor is largely driven by our hormones, so your emotional well-being plays an essential role.

As your doula, I bring encouragement, confidence, friendship, and wisdom to your unique pregnancy. I will pray for you and over you and be your listening ear and shoulder to lean on.

And if you ever experienced birth trauma and are struggling to move beyond it, I can help you to heal. If you experienced an unexpected cesarean, I can help you prepare for a VBAC.

I safeguard your emotions, help you to reframe issues, and build your confidence.

  • Autonomy is essential in safe and effective labor and delivery. A woman who isn’t heard or allowed informed consent, or who is bullied, shamed, gas-lighted, or fear-mongered into submitting to interventions that go contrary to her desires, is one who will struggle with trauma afterward.

I can help you formulate your birth plan in a way that clearly expresses your goals and intentions for childbirth.

In the event of unexpected outcomes, such as an unplanned cesarean, I can help you to advocate for evidence-based alternatives that mirror as closely as possible normal childbirth as God designed it.

I can help you work through the disappointment if things don’t go as you hoped.

As your doula, I will help you to advocate for yourself, to be heard, to understand your options and their benefits and risks. I will pray for your protection and safety.

  • You have a plan, a goal, for your labor and delivery. As your doula, I will do all in my power to reinforce YOUR goals.

I have an entire arsenal of proven techniques and methods to support you, comfort you, give you confidence, and move your baby along while you labor.

Statistics bear out that the vast majority of women ARE made for this, and can enjoy birth as God designed it when His natural laws (such as the laws of physics) are taken into consideration and applied during labor and delivery.

I equip, train, and build confidence in your support partner(s) as well, so that they (rather than me) become key in your birth story. I remain in the background, watching over, praying, helping, and directing as needed.

  • Knowledge is power. If you’ve read this far, you already have been empowered with knowledge. You now know that something is wrong here in the United States with a system that traumatizes 45%-70% of childbearing women.

As your doula I will build up you and your support partners with knowledge and wisdom. You will know how to meet unexpected outcomes with understanding and hope. You will receive resources and training to equip and prepare you for your baby’s birth.

Whether you’re a first-time mom or a veteran mom, a doula can help you. Regardless of your previous birth experience - whether good or bad, a doula can help. Your choice of birth place - hospital, midwife center, or home - is enhanced with doula support. Doula support can positively impact your and your baby’s health, your pregnancy, and your childbirth experience.

Evidence shows that having continuous doula support improves health outcomes.
